Welcome to my travel journal! I’ve been getting lots of requests to share more of my travel outfits in action, so I’m trying my best to capture a daily outfit photo.

Our Roman adventure started with a touch of chill. The first full day in the Eternal City was a bit on the chilly side, with rain making an occasional appearance. Thankfully, I packed my weatherproof boots (similar)! It’s always good to be prepared for the unexpected, especially when exploring a city like Rome.

Bag swap and practical choices. I mentioned in a previous post that I switched out my bags at the last minute. I remembered wearing my trusty Lo & Sons Pearl crossbody bag (similar) during a trip to Las Vegas a few years back and how much I loved its lightweight practicality. While it doesn’t hold as much as my Givenchy, it’s perfect for day trips and sightseeing. We were walking non-stop, including a two-hour walking tour in the late afternoon. My trusty boots were up to the challenge!

A touch of sunshine. The sky cleared, but a cool breeze still lingered. I kept my outfit the same, but swapped out the boots for my comfortable sneakers (similar). Comfort is key when exploring a city on foot!

A touch of elegance for dinner. We spruced up for dinner, but unfortunately, our taxi was late, and we missed getting an outfit shot before nightfall. I opted for my stretch crepe pants, a silk jacket, and my leopard shoes (similar). I also added a chic Banana Republic scarf (similar). This outfit combo is a winner and I’ll definitely be wearing it again, so I’ll make sure to get a picture next time!

Missoni Magic: A Knit Jacket Love Affair

The weather in Rome was simply divine! It was warm enough to ditch my heavy outerwear but still cool enough for a lightweight jacket. We were on our feet all day, and I was happy with my footwear choices. Since we heard most businesses and museums would be closed on Monday for the May Day holiday, we decided to check out the Sunday afternoon shopping scene. We weren’t the only ones with that idea, and the streets were buzzing with activity!

A serendipitous shopping experience. We stumbled upon the Missoni store and, much to my surprise, Le Monsieur started pointing out items he liked. Most of them, I knew instantly, wouldn’t be my style. The Sales Associate, sensing the situation, brought out a few pieces from the stockroom for me to try.

A new favorite. This knit jacket (similar) was a perfect fit and an instant hit. Even Le Monsieur approved! We left the store empty-handed, but after lunch, Le Monsieur insisted I go back and get the jacket. I’m so glad I did! It’s a lovely piece, lightweight and versatile, perfect for both LA and travel.

Versatility is key. It looks amazing with jeans and a tee (as seen above) or black pants for a dinner outing (below). I’m planning on getting the sleeves shortened once we’re back home. Yes, I know it would have looked better without the long-sleeved top underneath, but that’s what I packed for cool evenings!

Roman style. We’ve dined at several restaurants here and noticed that even the Italian guests are often dressed up, and we are often among the most stylishly dressed!

Exploring Rome’s hidden gems. With the May Day holiday, most museums and stores are closed today. We plan on exploring some of Rome’s parks and wandering around the Jewish Quarter. It will be a casual day. Tomorrow, we take the train to Lake Como. Stay tuned for a post tomorrow about our adventures in Rome.

What’s your favorite travel wardrobe piece? I’d love to hear about it!
