Planning your next adventure with Delta? Awesome! But before you book, let’s dive into the details of Basic Economy fares to make sure you’re informed. We’ll cover everything from mileage accrual to baggage fees, so you’re ready for a smooth journey.
SkyMiles Program and Basic Economy
If you’re a SkyMiles member, you’ll earn miles on most flights. However, Basic Economy tickets don’t earn miles, so you won’t be able to rack up rewards. Additionally, these fares don’t contribute towards Medallion Status. Want to know more about earning miles and reaching Medallion Status? Check out the Membership Guide & Program Rules.
Important Things to Know About Basic Economy
Basic Economy is a budget-friendly option, but comes with some restrictions. You won’t be able to change or refund your ticket, so make sure your travel plans are set in stone. Plus, you won’t get to pick your seat until you check in. And no, you won’t be able to upgrade either. For more details, head over to the Basic Economy rules.
Baggage Fees for Basic Economy
You can’t escape baggage fees, but knowing the rules is key! Domestic travel within the United States (including Puerto Rico) will cost you $35 for the first checked bag and $45 for the second. For travel between the United States and Canada, these same rates apply.
